Joint financial product from Santander and Amazon is already available for amazon.de customers in Austria.

Amazon & Santander Visa Credit Card Launches for Austrian Customers

The co-branded Amazon Visa credit card issued by Zinia by Santander rewards Austrian customers with 1% cashback in points for purchases on Amazon.de and 0.5% for all other purchases.

Debuting in 2024 for the German market, the credit card brought to customers by Amazon and Zinia, Grupo Santander’s consumer finance platform, has no annual fee and does not require customers to open a new bank account. It is especially beneficial for Prime members, who enjoy extra rewards of 2% back from Amazon Visa spending on Amazon.de during select shopping events, such as the Prime Day.

Cardholders can make purchases quickly, easily, and securely using Zinia, Santander’s B2C BNPL platform, developed by Santander’s Digital Consumer Bank (DCB), which combines Santander Consumer Finance (SCF) and its digital banking subsidiary, Openbank. Launched in January 2022, Zinia enables customers to split payments into interest-free installments, enhancing the shopping experience both online and in-store at participating merchants. The platform uses AI-based credit assessment technology developed by Openbank to make real-time credit decisions.

Since its introduction, Zinia has expanded across Europe, starting with markets like Spain and the Netherlands. In Germany, the platform gained significant traction, amassing over 2 million customers shortly after its launch. The launch of the Amazon Visa credit card in the new market indicates a strategic effort to penetrate and grow within the Austrian consumer finance sector.

To celebrate the launch, new Amazon Visa customers in Austria receive a sign-up bonus credited to their first monthly statement: €10 for non-Prime members and €15 for Prime members. The accumulated rewards balance is easily tracked via the Amazon Visa app, and points can be redeemed during checkout on Amazon.de, which ranks as the fifth most visited website in Austria, following major web resources like Google, Youtube.com, and Facebook. In 2023, the e-commerce platform led the local market share with online sales totaling approximately $980.5 million.
