Chinese Universities Launch DeepSeek Courses

This month, local universities in China launched artificial intelligence courses based on the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek, which breakthrough in the global digital intelligence industry has been described by some experts as a kind of so-called Sputnik moment for an Asian country and has become one of the most discussed topics in the world’s information space.

Chinese Universities Launch DeepSeek Courses

The mentioned courses reflect Beijing’s desire as a political center to create incentives for scientific and technological innovation in schools and universities. It is worth noting that China is currently striving to achieve technological sovereignty. The corresponding goal for an Asian country is gradually becoming existential. Against the background of ongoing and even increasing geopolitical tensions, China is rapidly approaching a configuration of historical reality in which this state should increasingly rely on its own strength both in the context of technological developments and as part of a larger economic advance. It is worth noting that Beijing has already faced the consequences of the negative situation in the international political arena, expressed in the confrontation between many world capitals. In this context, it is worth mentioning that the United States has limited the shipments of advanced chips and equipment necessary for the production of microcircuits of the appropriate category to an Asian country. At the same time, the mentioned products are of critical importance. Chips are used in almost all technological goods. Microcircuits are also necessary for training and ensuring the process of subsequent functioning of artificial intelligence systems. AI is an advanced technology of modernity. Artificial intelligence has already demonstrated impressive abilities related to processing huge amounts of information, including as part of an analytical approach to performing appropriate cognitive operations and generating original content. The practice of using machine intelligence as a working tool in various industries is also gradually scaling up. The continuation of this process means significant prospects that at some point artificial intelligence will become a new means of production. The mentioned realistic probability highlights the expected large-scale impact of AI on the economy. Also, some futurological forecasts suggest that in the course of its technological evolution, artificial intelligence may surpass the human mind in terms of cognitive abilities. The listed existing capabilities and prospects of machine intelligence mean that in the future, it is highly likely to determine the position of countries in the international political arena. Artificial intelligence is also likely to shape the economic and technological capabilities of the states. Against this background, the interest of capitals in the development of domestic machine intelligence industries is obvious. For China, as one of the largest geopolitical players, this need is critical. Beijing is also interested in finding new sources of economic growth. It is worth noting that in recent years, China’s economic system has been facing challenges such as sluggish domestic consumer demand, falling investor confidence, and a prolonged downturn in the real estate market.

DeepSeek, a Hangzhou-based startup, received positive feedback from Silicon Valley executives and engineers from US technology companies, who stated that its V3 and R1 artificial intelligence models are on par with OpenAI and Meta’s most advanced models.

Shenzhen University, located in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, this week announced the launch of an artificial intelligence course based on DeepSeek. In this case, students will learn about major technologies, security, privacy, ethics, and other challenges. Shenzhen University will explore how to find a balance between technological innovation and ethical norms.

Zhejiang University, located in the eastern part of China, has also started holding special DeepSeek courses.

Shanghai’s Jiao Tong University has deployed DeepSeek to upgrade artificial intelligence learning tools for its courses. The relevant information is contained in a message posted on the university’s official WeChat account.

Renmin University of China has put DeepSeek into application in multiple fields, injecting new power for teaching and research, at the campus office.

Last month, the Asian country issued its first national action plan to build a strong education nation by 2035. China stated that this plan is aimed at establishing a high-quality education system with accessibility and quality among the best in the world.

Liang Wenfeng, founder of DeepSeek, this week took part in a rare meeting with the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, and some of the biggest names in the Asian country’s technology sector, such as Alibaba.

The integration of artificial intelligence courses into the education system indicates that China is betting on AI. The Asian country is aware of the prospects and the already proven importance of digital intelligence.

As we have reported earlier, Chinese Tech Firms Integrate DeepSeek LLM.
