OpenAI is soon to retire GPT-4, an artificial intelligence model that was launched more than two years ago, from ChatGPT.
The mentioned information is contained in a changelog posted on Thursday, April 10th.
Effective April 30, GPT-4 will be fully replaced by GPT-4o, the current default model in ChatGPT. It is known that this model of artificial intelligence will remain available for use through OpenAI’s API.
In head‑to‑head evaluations, GPT-4o consistently surpasses GPT‑4 in writing, coding, STEM, and more. OpenAI wrote about this in the changelog. It was also noted that the latest upgrades have further improved GPT‑4’s instruction following, problem-solving, and conversational flow, making it a natural successor to GPT‑4.
GPT-4 was launched in March 2023 for ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Copilot chatbot on the web. It is worth noting that some versions of the artificial intelligence model had multimodal capabilities. This means that the GPT-4 could understand both text materials and images.
It is worth noting that against the background of the active development of artificial intelligence and the scaling of the practice of using AI, the issue of cybersecurity has become more relevant. Scammers also have access to machine intelligence tools. For this reason, their activities have become more sophisticated. To counteract the corresponding threat in the virtual space, personal awareness of users is important. For example, an Internet search query such as how to know if my camera is hacked will allow anyone to get information about signs of unauthorized access to the device.
