The media published information according to which this month Amazon will introduce a new version of its voice assistant Alexa.
The new version of the mentioned product from the specified e-commerce giant, which is also one of the largest players in the global technology sector, will be powered by generative artificial intelligence. According to information that was published by the media, the company sent out invitations to a February 26 event featuring the head of its devices and services team, Panos Panay, and the event is expected to preview the new Alexa. In this case, the journalists refer to unnamed insiders.
An Amazon spokesperson, while talking to media representatives, stated that the February event is focused on Alexa. This formulation does not contain any specifics. At the same time, the mentioned statement implies that the voice assistant will most likely be updated. Against this background, the likelihood is growing that Amazon will demonstrate to the public a new version of Alexa powered by generative artificial intelligence. This product will have an impact on the company’s position as a player in the technology sector. At the same time, it would be an obvious exaggeration to characterize the voice assistant powered by generative artificial intelligence as a kind of breakthrough against the background of the current stage of the evolution of the AI industry.
Alexa debuted in 2014. The new version of the voice assistant, which was announced by the media with reference to insiders, will be the most significant update of this product since its debut.

The results of a special study released in April 2023 showed that over the previous 12 months in the United States, 27% of consumers had used voice-controlled devices or speakers.
